Pierpont Community & Technical College offers an Associate Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology (FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification), Certificate of Applied Science in Airframe Technology, Certificate of Applied Science in Powerplant Technology, and Advanced Skill Set Certificate in Aviation Technology General. The graduates of these programs may seek direct employment as aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) or may pursue a bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance management at other institutions of higher education.

The Associate of Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology prepares students for entry level employment in maintenance and repair of aircraft with various airlines, aircraft manufacturers, corporate aviation, aircraft repair stations, and general aviation fixed-base operations. Graduates earn an associate degree and an FAA Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) certification with Airframe and Powerplant endorsements (A&P).

The Airframe and Powerplant Certification training, approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under Title 14 CFR 147, has been in operation for more than 30 years. In addition, the Associate Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology, is accredited by the Higher Education Policy Commission and West Virginia Board of Education.

The Pierpont Community & Technical College Aviation Technology Program is located at the Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center, 1050 East Benedum Industrial Drive, Bridgeport WV, 26330.

The institutions conduct high quality regional aerospace industrial training and community outreach services at the North Central Regional Airport. The instructional building is an 40,000 sq. ft. facility which includes classrooms, computer labs, and a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) test center, a learning resource center, a 10,000 sq. ft. aircraft maintenance hangars, and a variety of laboratories and shops which support academic and technical instruction as well as industrial training in various aerospace disciplines.
